I’m looking to replace an old Insteon device which I had set up to open/close my old garage door with a Z-Wave LR component. This I/O Linc controller plugged into an outlet and connected directly to the garage door opener itself, to the same contacts that the physical button on the wall used to trigger an open/close event, and had another hard-wired two-piece sensor mounted on the wall & door which would know when the door was open (the two parts are separated).
I don’t need identical functionality, but don’t see anything immediately on thesmartesthome that looks like what I might be able to use.
I do see this GoControl device, and this Ecolink device, but the drastic price differences make me think they’re entirely different things and not at all what I need.
I’ve really liked all the ZEN products I’ve purchased so far. I’m having to replace all my Insteon devices since my new Powerwall 3 is wreaking havoc on their communication.
TIA for any advice/opinions on how to replace this rather unique solution I’ve been using for over a decade now.
The ZEN58 XS 800LR Relay might be an option for controlling your garage door. It has advanced settings that can control things like a garage door opener. It needs 9-40 volts DC (or AC) to operate–which may be obtainable from the opener itself or, more easily, a common wall-wart.
Side note to @Sara– the link on the support article page to a “wired reed switch” appears to be broken! It resolves to a link starting with “``http://https//www…”
I used the zen17 to replace my Insteon I/O linc controller that controlled my garage doors. same setup as you describe. I also bought the tilt sensors as a swap for the contacts that you installed on the top of the garage door, all works great.
