I have an edge case where I’d like to install a 2nd garage door safety sensor to send a Z-Wave signal as a trigger for other events.
What I’m hoping to do is to connect it to my existing Zen-17 in a way that sends power to the sensors, and can also determine when the “beam” has been broken, and thus, send Z-Wave data to my HA setup.
I’m a bit out of my league here, and will look around/read a bit… but generally speaking, will what I’m trying to do even work with the Zen-17? Can it supply power to a sensor and determine when the beam has been broken? I’m guessing that the beam completes an electrical circuit, and when broken momentarily breaks the circuit and from there, the Zen-17 will send that back to my HA software….
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
