I have both a white and a black zen35 scene controller. The LED brightness on both is set to 30%, the lowest value. The brightness on the black controller is not dim by any means, but looks OK. The brightness on the white controller is almost blindingly bright still. Instead of looking like lit indicator LEDs it looks like blooming stars of light without a diffuser and draws attention to itself.
is it normal that these LEDs are so bright? Is there any possible way to make them dimmer or at least better diffused? Is it normal that the black one looks less bright?
Following this… and to add: I have a bunch of ZEN32s and similarly wish there were brightness settings lower than 30%. I had guests complain they couldn’t sleep because of the LEDs being too bright. I had to write a script to turn off the leds at night in guest rooms. A 1% setting or similar might be great. But this is only part of the OPs question as they have observed other issues also.
I agree to the above. LEDs are too bright and granularity in the dimming is too course. Since you are likely PWM dimming the LED it would seem simple enough to select alternative duty cycles. Better still let users set it in 1% increments 0-100%…. This goes for ZEN32 as well.
Hey @zaphoyd, we’ve had a few comments on this, and we’re currently reviewing it with our technicians to verify if we can adjust this in the next firmware update. We’ll be sure to update you here once it’s available.
