Zen35 Taps not working

I just bought one of the new Zen35 dimmers, having been a fan of the Zen32’s for awhile now. I get that as a dimmer, it has to work differently than the 32’s, but I’m still having problems getting multiple taps to register with my Z-Wave automation system(Indigo). I’m assuming that I have a parameter set incorrectly, but have been thru the list and don’t know which one it might be.

For the record, these are the current settings:

Parameter 29—0

Parameter 34–0

Parameter 25–1

Parameter 42–0

So I get that a double tap may deal with brightness to 100%, but even triple taps don’t register as incoming Z-Wave data, unlike on the other 4 buttons on this 35 which DO, and even the main buttons on the 32’s that I have, which also send out double-triple … tap info.

I did just do a firmware update to the latest version on the website, so not sure if there is something else I can / need to do to get this working properly.

I used several ZEN32s (older cousin to ZEN35) on my Hubitat system and use multi-tap to trigger various scenes. I only use tap, double tap, and hold functions. My feeling is triple and quad tapping is not practical and I already have non tech users who wouldn’t embrace triple/quad tapping (double tapping gets raised eyebrows!). Works very well.

In Hubitat there is a button controller app that lets you assign actions discretely to each type of button tap for each unique button. Maybe there is a similar function on your hub.

ZEN35 is new so maybe some early days bugs in the firmware?

Hi @JLTHLA , thanks for including some of the parameters. The one that stands out is Parameter 34 set to 0; 0 enables the triple tap to be used for inclusion and exclusion. If you want the triple tap available for central scene, you need to disable this parameter, which would be value 1.

Parameter 34: Enable or disable programming functionality on the dimmer button. If this setting is disabled, then inclusion, exclusion, smart bulb mode no longer work when the dimmer button is activated (factory reset and scene control will still work) - that means you can now use triple-tap triggers on the dimmer for scenes and remote control of other devices.

Values: 0 – programming enabled; 1 – programming disabled. Default: 0.

So made the changes you suggested and seems to be better. BUT… of all the Zooz devices I have, this one keeps disconnecting from my Zooz Z-Wave Controller. I have other devices that are nearer… and others that are much farther away from the controller. Is it possible this particular unit is not working properly?

Hi @JLTHLA , there is an updated firmware available with a new SDK that should resolve this for you. Please reach out to our team directly and we can supply the file.
