Zen71 in Smart Bulb mode

I haven’t purchased a Zen71, is there still a way to actually power cycle the smart bulbs if needed (in my case it’s a smart light fixture)?

You’re probably already familiar with the Zooz Support Article, “How To Use Your Zooz Light Switches With Smart Bulbs” that describes the general case for smart bulbs, as well as the article, “ZEN71 On/Off Switch Advanced Settings.” that describes switch parameters to adjust for smart bulb use.

The article, “How to Use Zooz Switches Without a Load” describes independent control of the load relay in the section, “Separating Control of the Load.” The way I read it, this section implies the relay can be under the control of the hub even in Smart Bulb mode. @Sara, is that a valid assumption?

Although I haven’t tried it yet, I have a ZEN32 Scene Controller (which can be used in Smart Bulb Mode) targeted for installation by our back door on the circuit to our driveway floodlight. I’ve replaced the original dumb floodlight with a Wyze Floodlight Camera that needs to stay powered. But, there may be occasions when I need/wish to toggle the power to reboot the floodlight camera. Thanks for asking the question, @Lantech– the answer may help us both! :slightly_smiling_face:

Great question! We really don’t recommend disabling the relay but maintaining control of the relay via the hub when using smart bulbs. Instead, if you need to power cycle the bulb, you would momentarily disable smart bulb mode, power cycle the bulb, then reinstate smart bulb mode (local and Z-Wave control disabled). Our switches also have a physical way to disable smart bulb mode via the paddle, so that’s always an option too if the hub is down or inaccessible. Depending on the model, the process is described in the advanced settings document for each.
For example, for the ZEN32:
Disable/Enable Relay Control: Tap the main button 1x then press and hold it for 5 seconds until the LED indicator turns solid green. Then click the relay button 5 times quickly to rotate values in Parameter 19. The LED indicator will flash green 2 times to indicate a successful mode change.
For the ZEN71: Hold the lower paddle for 10 seconds until the LED indicator starts blinking, then within 2 seconds, tap the upper paddle 5 times quickly to change this mode. The LED indicator will stay solid green for 3 seconds to confirm the change.
