Have a Zen76, Firmware 3.4 that has an update to 3.7 available in Home Assistant. Every time I try to update, it fails. Logs show:
[3913783291664] Error during service call to update.install: zwave_error: Z-Wave error 260 - Cannot check for firmware updates for node 32: Failed to query firmware version from the node! (ZW0260)
So I have very limited experience with Home Assistant, but I’ll bet you get more replys shortly. However reading this makes me wonder if it’s something similar to what I experienced with one of my ZEN71s.
Basically there are parameters the devices can lose that can prevent the updates (among other things that will stop devices from updating). In my case I was able to easily restore the missing parameters, then update without issue.
Have you tried the basics of moving the Z-Wave hub closer? Rebooting the device (turning the breaker off and on)? Trying a different firmware file? Or removing and re-adding the device to your network?
Hello. This sounds like there is a connectivity issue or interview issue. Assuming the ZEN76 actually works and is controllable via HA;
I’d start with a power cycle of the ZEN76 ( breaker off/on) which was already suggested. If that doesn’t work, perhaps a reinterview of the device. Then check the logs to be sure the interview completes properly.
Then retry the upgrade.
Let us know how you make out!
We could also try a manual update of the firmware if needed. But I don’t think this is an issue with the firmware update itself - it seems to be failing the initial check where it cannot retrieve the current firmware version on the switch.
If you can, an exclude of the device and then re-include might be in order as well.
I’m on Hubitat but I can confirm I have updated several ZEN76 devices to 3.7 firmware. So it must be something particular to your environment or how HA does the updates.
If you have a ZWave stick you could run Simplicity Studio on a laptop and do the OTA firmware update from there.
