This way at least I can quickly search for YYYYMM entries newer than the last time I manually walked the list.
If there was willingness to go “above and beyond” being able to register Model and HW Rev and subscribe to email notifications would be a delight, but I realize it’s a bit more effort than the simple addition of a datestamp to put that in place. Given you’re already doing something with “registration” data, maybe it’s not out of reach however.
Thank you for your continued revision and support for OTA updates.
I like your suggestion, but in the meantime you could check the ZWaveJS firmware repo on github. It’s not ideal, but the “last commit date” column makes it pretty easy to quickly see when devices were last updated.
Thanks – wasn’t aware of this as a source for updates. I’m surprised I haven’t seen an app for Hubitat that compares your devices against this… Feels like something worthy of writing one of these days but either way, I posted something to Hubitat Lounge to see if somebody has done it or wants to!
No problem. This is what Home Assistant looks at to check for updates and can even initiate updates straight from it now. Not familiar with hubitat, but hopefully someone can adapt it or create something similar.
Note that the .json files in the github directory provide the version information only–not the actual firmware update file. It’s a great source for locating the version information and, as @John points out, could be turned into an automated tool to check for updates.
Digging deeper, you’ll find the URL in the “upgrades” section of the .json file points to the .gbl file used by Hubitat. Changing the file extension from .gbl to .zip should provide you with the file containing the file recommended for other platforms. See the Zooz Support Portal page Zooz OTA Firmware Files for complete details and an alternate way to download the firmware upgrade files that might be more useful to the average user.
And be aware of the caution noted by Zooz: uploading an incorrect file to your device could brick it! So take the usual precautions…
Absolutely, we will definitely bring back the update announcements to the forum! Give us a couple of weeks to create a bullet-proof process so all updates are posted and accurately described
We will post firmware update announcements for our devices on a monthly basis here starting at the end of this month (June 2026). This will help us streamline the posts and reduce topic spamming. Hope this format works well for everyone!
