Long Range - Without QR Code?

So one of my ZSE44s, just refuses to scan. I can’t get the QR code from the box or the device itself to scan. How am I supposed to add it other than the traditional ZWave?

Am I missing a place to do it by just typing in the DSK code?

Maybe in the webview? (dont know if it is like this on the z-box)
this is how it looks on the Fibaro HC3 one the z-wave engine 3 (that I belive zooz z-box is on)

So you are correct, and I found that section, and added in the DSK code. However it appears to keep adding it in as a traditional ZWave device best I can tell, rather than a LR device.

I could be wrong here - but the only way I could get a device to join as LR was to use the Z-Box mobile app. I couldn’t see it in the web interface anywhere. This doc seems to only show the mobile app method for LR : How To Add Devices To Your Z-Box Hub - Z-Box Hub

Hopefully I’m wrong and there is a way to do this via the web as well.

As for the QR code scan - sometimes I put the code on my scanner/copier and blow it up to a larger size and it works better. Otherwise I’ve typed the whole thing as well.

I can’t use the app for joining devices, so I’ve only been using the web interface. That documentation is very outdated.

  • You must have your certificate loaded, so you can connect https
  • Go to add device
  • Choose Z-Wave Smart Start
  • Scan the QR Code (you will need a web cam of some sort)
  • This will bring up options, choose LR

Thank you. I never realized there was a correlation between HTTPS and LR in the web interface!!!
(of course, when you think about it, it makes sense). That requirement (HTTPS required for LR) should be in lights! Thank you for that.

I’ve been using the mobile app all this time for LR. yikes.

LR isnta available for me in europe on fibaro hc3 (500 chip)

But great to get to know this things about https to ad LR when it comes  (always http on the local ip here xD )

The WebUI unfortunately is very bugged right now though. I confirmed this via email (sent in logs) and referenced my post about it. So adding LR stuff through the web is a royal pain right now. Unfortunately using the app really isn’t possible without creating a bunch of extra work for me.

It’s also worth mentioning–I learned the hard way, LOL–if a device is originally paired to the Z-Box hub in non-LR configuration, it may be necessary to first exclude the device and perform a factory reset before attempting to pair the device in LR mode. YMMV, of course! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
