I just installed a ZAC36 shutoff valve as part of my ZBox setup. In ZBox in the devices list it shows a red empty battery symbol under the “Power” column and hovering over it indicates “Battery-Powered”. My device is plugged into power and function fine otherwise. Am I missing something or is this just a display bug?
Great question! Hardware VER 4.0 and FW VER 2.0 and up: When used without backup battery, the device displays 0% battery status. This is expected, as the Z-Box is using Battery CC V1 and NOT Battery CC V2.
Battery CC V2 can detect if the battery is connected to the device (Titan in this case) or not, and automatically hide or not the battery entity.
Generally, it is not a bug; this is how it works on the Z-Box currently. The device is still mains powered and acts as a repeater.
Great, thank you for confirming Sara!
This implies it is something that perhaps should be fixed on the Z-Box to bring it more into line with the intended functionality, but just isn’t a high enough priority?
Perhaps this is also why the Z-Wave+ Aeon Multisensor 6 with f/w v1.08 always indicates 100% battery rather than “mains powered” when it is connected to a wallwart via the USB cable? (On SmartThings it indicated mains powered. And of course, it acts as a Z-Wave mesh repeater with external power.)
