I’ve just installed a zen17 800LR to open and close my garage doors. I wired it up as shown in the instructions then included it into Home Assistant. I used parameter 2/3 as value 11 (Garage door with sensors). The sensor however is backwards, showing open when closed and closed when open. I’ve read much about changing parameters 19/20 to match parameters 2/3. However there is no value 11 possible in parameters 19/20. Hummm, I’ve pretty much tried parameter and value possible and the only different outcome I get, is the sensor not reporting at all.
I updated the firmware to 2.20.0 before beginning the installation and I’m beginning to think maybe something has changed, so the helpful instructions no longer are helpful? This is my last attempt to get the unit working as I think it should before just moving onto creating a helper or template to give the correct door positions.
Hey @Rocketron55, thanks for reaching out! If you need to reverse the value for the sensor reports, you’ll want to start with a factory reset to restore all values to default.
Once included again, you’ll need to set parameters 2 and 3 to value 7 (open/close sensor), then exclude and reinclude the device to have the new sensors appear. You can then set the following:
Parameters 10 and 11 to value 0 (disable the input trigger)
Parameter 19 and 20 to value 7 (open-close sensor ) This needs to match the value in parameters 2 and 3.
Parameters 6 and 8 to value 2 (this sets the relays to act like a momentary contact to mimic the garage door behavior.
Parameters 15 and 17 to value 1 (seconds)
With the settings above, you will now have a separate sensor to monitor the status of the garage door via the inputs (reversed to report the correct values). The relays will be acting as momentary contacts to trigger the garage door motor.
Please let us know if this resolves the issue for you!
Thanks for the guide to get this working correctly. All is working as I thought it should.
Brings to mind a couple of question, it does appear the instructions provided with the relay and the online guide need to be updated so others could sail through the installation. However if this is a change which will be undone in the future, should I not do any more firmware updates in case it ruins my working set up?
Thanks again for your help. This is the first time I’ve had any issue with a Zooz product, your help certainly is a great reflection of product support!
Regarding the documentation, we’ll add that option. It’s fairly niche, but common enough that it would be helpful in the documentation for many users.
Firmware updates should not affect this, but we do recommend reviewing the device change logs prior to updating to verify if it resolves an issue you’re currently experiencing or adds functionality you want.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any other questions!
