I have two zen34 remote switches and it seemed that I was changing batteries in one more than the other. It turns out I was. thinking that is was a connection distance issue i placed them side by side for the past three month with fresh batteries in each. i just checked their battery levels yesterday. one was at 5% and the other was still at 100%. Then this morning I check again and the one that was at 100%, over the course of 8 hours gradually went down to 80%. A bit perplexed with this. Both switches are in a large open space with no obstruction of the hub (nortek HUSBZB-1 USB Hub) . they are utilized pretty much only on weekends as this is my workshop.
Might help to include what hardware version your 34s are and what firmware they are currently on.

I will check what hardware version, did not realize they had multiple. I purchased them about two years ago. Currenty firmare says 2.02 but it also notes that is was updated 18 hours ago as of this writing (7-14-26 0638).
It’s possible that one of them is routing through multiple devices - have you tried excluding and re-adding from the workshop location to make sure the device is communicating with the controller in the most efficient way?
The map showed the problem unit was routed thru the other remote switch and then a hard wired powered device, then to the hub. I click to rebuild routes. It gave me an error and said to check logs. I checked the logs and nothing is in there. I tried to rebuild routes on the other switch and it says another is already in progress. Try again later. Both switches are firmware 2.0 according to their back label. No hardware version listed. UPC is 853478006346. My map now indicates the problem switch not connected thru anything. Still rebuilding? It has been over an hour.
When rebuilding routes with battery powered devices, you’ll need to manually wake them in order for the route to update. For the ZEN34, click the upper paddle 7 times as quickly as possible to wake the device up and the LED indicator will stay on solid blue during the wake-up and will turn off when the device turns the Z-Wave radio off again.
If rebuilding does not help, you may need to exclude and reinclude form the workshop location as Agnes mentioned as well.
