Zen77 decouple dimmer

I have a use case that I haven’t found on this forum. My switch will be wired to an outlet. I know I can have the Zen77 act like an on/off switch via a parameter. What I’d like to know is if, on top of this, I can use the paddle dimmer to control a ZEN56.

Thank you.

Hey @usuario_zooz, can you clarify if you are planning to use the ZEN77 to control a switched receptacle? For the question, you can use the paddles (central scene/multi-tap) functionality to trigger any other device connected to your hub, as long as your hub supports and exposes this functionality.

Yes, I was planning to use this to control a switched receptacle. But in addition to that, I wanted to use the paddles hold down/dimmer functionality to control the dimmer level of a Zen56

Thanks for clarifying! You won’t be able to use any dimmer to control a switched receptacle. Most of our switches are rated to be used with 120 V lighting fixtures directly. They are unable to control a receptacle, as the NEC requires a 15A switch for a 15A receptacle, which the majority of our switches are not rated for. If you are looking to control a switched receptacle, you can use the ZEN75 Heavy Duty Switch or the relay portion of the ZEN30 Double Switch. These are the only two switch models that meet the NEC requirements to control a switched receptacle. In your case, I would recommend the ZEN30, as this would leave the dimmer paddles free for programming Z-Wave control of the ZEN56.
