ZEN77 button at the bottom?

Looking to potentially buy a few ZEN77 switches. The product photos show what looks like a small button or toggle at the bottom below the main paddle switch, but neither the product description, nor any of the docs mention it. I’m just trying to figure out what that is. –Thanks

I use Zen77 it’s not a button, so that’s why it’s not mentioned. I’m guessing it actually has something to do with the assembly of the plastic switch cover maybe? (Just a guess)

Are you by chance talking about the air gap switch?

From this page: Zooz Light Switches & Dimmers FAQs - Zooz Support Center

What is the small button under the paddle/to the left of the toggle on my dimmer?

  • This switch is a safety feature that cuts power to the device when you’re changing bulbs. For the paddle models, when the air gap is gently pulled out, power is disabled and this may mimic a dead device. If pushed in, power should be enabled. For the toggle models, when the air gap switch is flipped to the right, power is disabled and this may mimic a dead device. If flipped to the left, power should be enabled.

Well that seems odd it’s not in the documentation, but good to know.

The air gap switch is on a lot of earlier Z-Wave switches by many manufacturers. The only use I’ve found for it is to interrupt power to the switch–saving a run to the circuit breaker panel.

And, sadly, there are some devices I have in the house (not Zooz) that lose their brains for my overhead fans (because Zooz doesn’t have a variable fan solution yet) that I probably every month have to cycle the circuit. It’s a useful feature to have at the switch for an “automation power cycle”

Funny you say that… I’ve had to rely on the air gap reset for GE switches back in the day, and most recently Inovelli. Oddly - I’ve never needed it on a Zooz switch
