ZSE44 really outdoor?

I’m confused by the ZSE44 800LR being listed as usable outdoors, when the specs list an operating temperature range of 40° – 90° F. That… doesn’t seem compatible with outdoor usage, except two months of the year. The other ten are going to have days that exceed that range, and not just a little. I’m in NoVA, and daytime highs reach upper 90s to 100 for at least a week or two each summer, and winter lows hit 0 (and stay below 40 for a while).

I actually asked this same question a while back. The answer I got was it’s because of the ZWave specification. I will say I have one outside (under my patio) to get the outside temperature, and it has most definitely seen temperatures outside of those ranges in both directions here in Ohio. The only thing I’ve really noticed is that sensor goes through batteries quicker than it’s inside counterparts (it’s not unreasonable though). I think it’s the cold weather that really gets the battery.
